Ref Impact Evidencing Officer

Bristol, United Kingdom University of Bristol Full time

**The role**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and organised individual to join our friendly REF (Research Excellence Framework) Impact Team as an REF Impact Officer supporting the delivery of the University’s REF 2029 submission, supporting the Faculty of Health and Life Science (HLS).

The REF Impact Team’s main purpose is to support the development of Impact Case Studies for REF, enabling us to evidence and tell the stories of how our research has positively impacted people’s lives, such as how our research informed the development of effective containment strategies against Ebola and increased the survival rates of Childhood leukaemia.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is willing to take initiative and is keen to learn and develop impact evaluation and evidencing skills. This role may suit people from a variety of backgrounds, including impact evaluators, investigative journalists or postdocs in health or life sciences. Your experience of working on a REF cycle would be beneficial, but is not essential.

**What will you be doing?**:
Reporting to the REF Impact Associate for the Faculty of Life and Health Sciences and supporting multiple Impact Case Studies, you will:

- Work with researchers, Faculty Research Directors and School Impact Directors to identify potential evidence sources, lead on evidence collection and evaluate impact.
- Support organisation of REF Impact activities in the Faculty, including workshops and events.
- Identify, gather and organise evidence from public sources for use in Impact Case Studies.
- Work closely with academics and a range of external partners, including businesses and the public and third sectors to explore the full impact of our research and collect evidence thereof.
- Effective communication and relationship management across multiple and varied stakeholders is a key requirement of this role.
- Interact and work cooperatively with the wider Professional Services team to ensure high-quality project management support
- Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
- The ability to win the confidence of both University and private sector representatives
- Excellent problem-solving skills as well as being a confident decision maker
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise a challenging and varied workload whilst working to deadline
- Experience of maintaining appropriate administrative systems for managing project records and progress reporting
- An inquisitive mind and ability to pursue evidence to build a strong case
