Compliance Monitoring Officer

Here at Darlington Building Society we take compliance and risk seriously and have a well-established team with a wealth of experience who support the Building Society in its day-to-day operations. Due to an expansion in the department, we are currently offering the role of Compliance Monitoring Officer.
To work as part of our Risk and Compliance Team, we are looking for someone experienced in compliance who will undertake regular monitoring of the company’s systems/controls and provide assurance, advice and guidance to the business.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Head of Risk Frameworks and Compliance Monitoring, the Compliance Monitoring Officer will help provide oversight and assurance that the Society continues to meet its regulatory obligations through the successful delivery of compliance monitoring reviews.
Duties will include but not limited to:
- Delivery of compliance reviews in accordance with the compliance monitoring plan
- Maintaining records for each review undertaken (e.g. evidence files, version control)
- Engaging with stakeholders through each stage of the review lifecycle
- Monitoring and verifying the completion of actions to deadlines to demonstrate the closure of identified gaps
- Presenting results and updates on monitoring activity that will be included in regular compliance MI to the Society’s governance committees
- Working with colleagues to understand the wider Risk and Compliance environment and the impact this may have on the monitoring plan
We are looking for people who:
- Have experience working in a highly regulated industry
- Eager to learn and develop skills and knowledge
- Providing advice or support to help implement regulatory change
- Ability to summarise at a high level but equally explain detailed findings clearly and concisely (written and verbally)
- Proficient in using MS Office suite to provide excellent report writing and data analysis
