The Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) are part of the Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service in Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust and are within the ‘Getting Advice’ and ‘Getting Help’ (quadrants of) the developing iThrive model currently being implemented across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The iThrive model provides an integrated approach to the delivery of person-centered and needs-led services for children, young people and families.
The post holder will be supporting the MHST’s provision of a high-quality service to students (and their families) experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
**The three core elements that the MHST’s provide are**:
Evidence based interventions for mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing issues
Support designated senior mental health leads in educational setting
Provide timely advice to school and college staff
The post holder will work alongside Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP’s), Senior Wellbeing Practitioners (SWP’s) and Senior Clinicians through direct delivery of evidence-based interventions that support the recovery of young people referred to the service.
The post holder will also utilise their skills and knowledge of Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and child and adolescent mental health practice, alongside their knowledge of whole school approaches to mental health.
This work will be in accordance with clinical governance processes and professional standards.

Main
**Responsibilities**:
The postholder will not be responsible for a caseload but will support delivery of evidence based emotional wellbeing activities to children, young people and their families, as well as education staff under supervision. This might also include creating resources to support the offer of the team.
The post holder will support the team to promote the mental and emotional health of children, young people and families in the community
The postholder will support the team to work toward inclusion and ensure co-production with service users, families and carers and the education staff
The post holder will contribute to the overall assessment, including risk assessment, of children and young people in terms of their mental health needs by, for example, carrying out class observations
The postholder will focus largely on the ‘Whole School Approach’ to mental health. This might include preparing and supporting delivery of psychoeducation groups, assemblies and training of education staff.
There may also be opportunities for the postholder to represent the work them and the team/service are doing at external events with stakeholders. (Integrated care board, safeguarding, parents evenings etc)
The postholder will participate and contribute to team business meetings and will keep up to date with the team, service and organisational information
The postholder will adhere to all regulations, processes, and procedures within the educational setting whilst in their premises
The postholder will keep up to date with safeguarding training and processes and will actively contribute to the safeguarding of all children and young people in line with their role and responsibilities, seeking advice when concerned
Communication
The postholder will be a proactive member of the team
The postholder will communicate effectively and sensitively to a range of audiences, including other colleagues, and children, young people and families, both verbal and written communication

The postholder will develop and sustain effective relationships with stakeholders in education settings and partner agencies (including mental health leads)
The postholder will manage their own diary and prioritise workloads in line with agreed objectives

The post holder will attend relevant development opportunities in line with identified professional objectives (including annual appraisal)

Maintaining own professional development and requirement to take part in appraisal and management/clinical and safeguarding supervisions
Clinical and Practice Governance
Observe and maintain strict confidentiality with regards to any patient/family/staff/records and information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
