About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Financial Accountant to join the Society’s finance team.You will be based at our Head Office site in Binley, although we are committed to working flexibly and hybrid working split between home and office is possible.
You will play a key part in the production of our monthly management accounts and our published financial statements and your areas of focus will include overseeing the month end timetable, calculating accounting postings for central functions and ensuringcompliance with IFRS accounting standards and the Society’s accounting policies. You will collaborate with stakeholders both inside and outside the Society including our external auditors.
Your day to day will include the preparation and review of various journal postings and balance sheet reconciliations.In addition, you will prepare analysis of the statutory positions for the Group and its subsidiaries whilst providing oversight of the balancesheet positions.
You will drive continuous improvement in the month end reporting processes and ensure any identified risks are escalated to senior managers. You will be a key point of contact for other areas of finance that input into the month end process (Financial Planning,Treasury etc.) and will liaise with these teams to ensure the month end results are reported accurately.
This is an exciting time to join the Society as we are working on a significant programme of change and transformation including an upgrade of our General Ledger and ERP System. You will have the opportunity to be part of and shape this transformation for Finance.
You will be responsible for technical aspects of accounting which could include: -- Effective Interest Rate accounting under IFRS 9
- Expected Credit Losses under IFRS 9
- Fixed assets including IFRS 16 leases
- Group consolidation
- Securitisation vehicles
- Statutory accounts disclosures

About You
We’re looking for someone to confidently express opinions and provide advice to colleagues with excellent analytical and problem solving skills. You’ll need to handle complex technical financial accounting issues and communicate them in a simple way. StrongIT skills, including excel are a must as are excellent written and verbal communication skills. You’ll have strong relationship management skills and be comfortable talking to senior stakeholders.

You will have a natural curiosity toinvestigate and question results and you will be empowered to make a difference and add value.
You will be or have:

- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with some post qualification experience
- Finance degree or other relevant qualifications advantageous
- Strong experience of IFRS accounting standards.
- Financial Services experience advantageous
