About The Role
We have a great opportunity for a Senior Financial Accountant to join the Society’s finance team.You will be based at our Head Office site in Binley, but we are fully committed to working flexibly with hybrid working so splitting your time between home andoffice is possible.
This is an exciting time to join Finance as we are working on a significant programme of change and transformation including an upgrade of our General Ledger and ERP System. You will have the opportunity to be part of and shape this transformation and you willhelp to drive a continuous improvement environment in our processes to become more efficient and effective.
You will play a key part in the production of our monthly management accounts and our published financial statements and your day to day will include the preparation and review of various journal postings and balance sheet reconciliations. In addition, youwill prepare analysis of the statutory positions for the Group and its subsidiaries whilst providing oversight of the balance sheet positions ensuring compliance with IFRS accounting standards and the Society’s accounting policies which could include:
- Effective Interest Rate accounting under IFRS 9
- Expected Credit Losses under IFRS 9
- Fixed assets including IFRS 16 leases
- Group consolidation
- Securitisation vehicles
- Statutory accounts disclosures
You will collaborate with stakeholders outside the Society including our external auditors and be a key point of contact for other areas of finance that input into the month end process (Financial Planning, Treasury etc.). You will liaise with these teams toensure the month end and statutory position are reported accurately.
About You
We are looking for an ambitious individual with a go-getting attitude who can confidently express opinions and provide advice to colleagues and senior stakeholders. You’ll need to be resilient to change; be able to adapt as the Society continues to transformthrough its change programme and have a natural curiosity to investigate and question results empowering you to make a difference and add value.
You’ll being able to handle complex technical financial accounting issues and communicate them in a simple way. You’ll have strong IT skills, including excel, which are a must as have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
You will be or have:
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with post qualification experience.
- Finance degree or other relevant qualifications (advantageous).
- Experience within Financial Operations / Reporting / Control or within Accountancy Practice (advantageous).
- Strong experience of IFRS accounting standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong relationship management skills, with excellent written & verbal communications skills.
