National Highways has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Administrator to join the Regional Investment Programme (RIP) in the East Region, within our Major Projects (MP) directorate.
RIP is one of four programmes within National Highways Major Projects Directorate. Major Projects is responsible for the delivery of nearly 70 projects with a total value of more than £14 billion, and some of the most exciting and challenging projects inthe country. National Highway’s goal is to change the industry: to make roads and their construction and maintenance safer; to be more responsive to the needs of our customers, particularly about biodiversity and carbon; and to exploit the digital agenda anddrive the productivity agenda to improve delivery.
RIP is responsible for the development and delivery of junction improvements, bypasses, projects of National significance and major infrastructure projects. We deliver capital improvements that will help to grow the economy and deliver wider social benefitsand improve infrastructure.
Within this role you will be required to carry out a range of administrative processes, providing flexible business support, to contribute to the delivery of business activities and objectives to time, quality and within budget. You will be required to gothat extra mile, be proactive and take pride in what you do to deliver accurate and efficient results.
This role will be based from our Bedford office, however we operate hybrid working with 40% of time spent in the office and the remaining time may be worked from home. Occasional travel to project sites may be required’.
What you’ll be leading on:
- Delivering a variety of administrative processes; ensuring accuracy and punctuality whilst adherence to defined procedures and standards.
- Producing accurate and timely KPI reports to be shared with senior stakeholders, supporting effective planning, decision making and oversight.
- Monitoring, collating and analysing project information and statistics. Sharing these findings to support others in the delivery of business objectives and project milestones.
- Answering standard and non-standard enquiries, acting as a point of contact internally and externally. Providing information to stakeholders to support delivery, customer service, and decision making. Escalating issues for resolution, as necessary.
- Maintaining project records, customer correspondence, and governance documents. Entering information on systems and storing files to ensure that information is up to date, in the right place, and easily accessible.
- Managing self-led initiatives to completion, either standalone or as part of larger projects, to support achievement of business objectives.
- Identifying areas of special interest to support the regional programme and the delivery of specific business functions such as finance, communications, governance, or commercial activities.
To be successful you’ll demonstrate:
- Experience in a project environment (non-industry specific) is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience in ensuring good quality, customer focused service delivery.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software including, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. (Experience with Project Management / CRM/Financial software desirable)
- Strong time management and organisations skills. An ability to work under one’s own initiative, prioritising tasks to meet competing deadlines.
