It is an exciting time to join the Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust Podiatry team in Merton and we are seeking enthusiastic and skilled colleagues to join us as we build on existing models of care and introduce new ways of working. Our transformation plans over the next 12 months will include further integration with primary care, planned and unplanned care models and a greater emphasis on population health. We are expanding the existing workforce by recruiting to the current service portfolio and to the new teams.

We are looking for someone who is highly experienced podiatrist who is passionate about delivering high quality and efficient adult community services, giving the best care to our patients. We are keen to enhance the existing models of delivery and ensure that our services deliver integrated care with partners across primary, acute and mental health services. A valid UK driving licence plus the use of own transport for business purposes would be helpful.

You will need to demonstrate effective leadership skills alongside excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to teach and inspire colleagues through active demonstration of clinical practice and leadership.

- To autonomously assess and diagnose patients with a diverse range of medical and podiatric conditions, using appropriate diagnostic techniques, skills and tools.
- To provide emergency treatment for any lesion that is deemed to be urgent and to organise follow-up appointments for the treatment of that lesion as necessary
- To provide guidance and support to podiatry department packages of care
- To be able to refer patients directly for some diagnostic tests, such as, bloods and x-rays, and to interpret and act accordingly on data provided therein
- To develop tailored care packages dependent upon need in order to maintain the patient’s mobility
- To refer on urgent or exceptional cases to other healthcare professionals and communicate (in writing) with other health or social care colleagues to ensure the patient receives other services/ care required.
- To work in close collaboration with GP’s and specialist teams including vascular specialists, DN nurses and tissue-viability specialists in all care settings to ensure a holistic approach to the management of the at-risk and high-risk patient is met
- To support the formulation of a foot screening strategy and implement an education and screening programme in accordance with the National Service Framework for Vascular standards on foot care and NICE Guidance
- To comply with department policies in line with clinical governance, health and safety, infection control and equal opportunities.
- To communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels across the organisation.
- To respond and monitor queries from service users, ensuring any issues raised are resolved sensitively, effectively in a timely manner.
- To participate and comment on proposed service improvements/ policy developments/Podiatry Transformation programmes as appropriate
- To provide advice and training on neurological foot screening techniques and vascular checks including ABPIs within the specified localities
- To input computerised data for clinical and non-clinical activities in a timely manner, according to data protection requirements.
- To participate in clinical supervision, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and attend team meetings and 1:1s
- To maintain the clinical environment and departmental equipment, report faults/ damage of equipment and carry out a risk assessment of the clinical environment.
- To report all incidents, near misses and complaints in line with the Trust’s procedures.
- To work in close collaboration with specialist multi disciplinary teams to ensure
