**A quick look at the role.**
The Commercial Bid Manager will operate at a high level to develop and implement market and business development strategies primarily for Biffa's Material Recycling Facilities (MRF's). This includes identifying new opportunities, managing and developingclient relationships and creating business Tenders to Local Authorities. You will take the lead on managing client relationships and ensure that the management team are kept informed of market opportunities and business development.
**The Biffa division you'll be supporting.**
Within **Resources & Energy** we focus on the treatment, recycling and disposal of waste. It provides a number of treatment services for those materials that can be recovered and landfill disposal for those that are not suitable for recyclingor energy recover.
Our MRF's are four automated facilities capable of handling 470k tonnes per annum of mixed recycling (this is equivalent to the household recycling of 4 million people). The facilities sort dry mixes recyclables ready for use as secondary raw materials inmanufacturing processes.

- Be the pivotal member of the tendering team in securing new business. Lead the tender process, developing method statements, liaising with Biffa colleagues to get the information required to submit a compliant tender. Gain intelligence-based information,and market assessment to enable BWS to submit a competitive commercial offer to local authorities.
- Responsible for new Business Development / Sales. In line with commercial strategy, identify division's own leads, develop, and bring in new customers. Work closely with MRF operational teams to understand and identify commercially viable feedstock.
- To submit commercial reports to Head of Commercial (MRF's) as agreed
- To coordinate MRF's weekly input forecast volumes and communicate to managers.
- With Commercial team ensure MRF's are level loaded to meet MRF production targets
- To provide customer base monthly management data to meet obligations under MRF code of practise. Manage client regarding quality of inputs measured against commercial terms and make adjustment to accounts where necessary.
- To improve Profitability, assisted by finance support, analyse existing and potential customer profitability and business contribution, manage net payloads on haulage contracts.
- Conduct site visits with new and existing customers to manage inputs including Quality, Health and Safety and Duty of Care Requirements.
- Cognizant of Government Resources & Waste Strategy consultations, with a good understanding of the impacts to Biffa and the client base. Contribute to Biffa consultation strategy planning. Deliver agreed strategy for Biffa and to the clients.
- Understand Clients view on Consultations, inform the Biffa management team of outcomes where the client intends to make service changes.

Experience of Tendering to local authorities
Awareness of Environmental, Health & Safety regulations and their impacts
Write, monitor, control and analyse financial reports, budgets, and expenditure.
Hands on experience within Waste management sector
Recycling Industry operational experience
Developing/managing and implementing new business pipelines
Achieving clearly defined service level agreements and KPI's including customer service and financial delivery
Project Management
Numeracy and ability to understand numerical data
Successful sales and marketing techniques
Contractual and tendering protocol
Knowledge and understanding of current and proposed environmental legislation
