We are working alongside a client of ours based in Sunderland on their search for a Senior Bid Engineer to join their expanding team. This position would be ideal for someone who has experience in Technical Bids and Tenders, or someone with a great attitudecurrently in a Technical environment looking to move into a Bid role.
- Review RFQ/ Tender detail and complete calculations to specify conveyor scope.
- This may include discussions with sales team and/or clients and/or to clarify responses.
- All enquires require Statix calculations to be completed by a Technical Manager or member of Technical Team, especially for firm enquiries.
- If Calculations are completed by a Proposals Engineer, the Calculations must be reviewed by member of technical team
- Analyse databases, liaise with internal teams and managers to select best fit equipment supply relating to the calculations completed and scope requirements.
- Complete the costing document in line with these requirements to allow bid preparation.
- Review costing document with internal teams to agree final supply and margins to be put forward.
- Create a proposal document in line with client & FTT expectations and agreed margins set out with Sales & Commercial & MD.
- Hold discussions with other departments including engineering, sales, commercial and purchasing to obtain costs, technical information, engineering times, order information, Bought-in costs and tender approvals
- Carry our pre-tender discussions with sales colleagues and where necessary clients, and as necessary attend meetings in the region, to ascertain our client’s exact requirements and promote our range of products and services.
- Receive enquiries & RFQ’s in sufficient detail to carry out detailed evaluations and calculations to ascertain the client’s exact requirements and to allow detailed costing of each opportunity whilst minimising risk and retaining competitiveness.
- Attend regular bid review meetings with the Sales, Commercial, Purchasing and General Managers to review submissions prior to release to Sales.
- Attend internal meetings and have discussions with other departments (sales, production, engineering, purchasing and commercial) to ensure that goods and services offered are within the companies and client’s best interests with respect to scope, cost,margin and risk.
- Ensure all opportunities are logged onto FTT internal systems (Bid Enquiry List/Log) and that pipelines are updated regularly with accurate data.
- Occasionally the Proposals engineer will need to attend pre and post tender meetings with clients in our region. Also, the Proposals engineer will need to make site visits to enable accurate pricing of tenders.
