Job Title: Mental Health Recovery Worker

Base: Women’s Wellness Zone (WWZ)

The Orchard Suite, 71 - 73 The Broadway, Southall, UB1 1LA

Reports to: WWZ Team Leader / CAPE Mental Health and Wellbeing Team Leader

Hours: 37 hours per week

**Salary**: £27,000

Community Activities Project Ealing (CAPE) is a dynamic organisation that, by its very nature is required to change as the needs of the people with complex mental health issues in our communities change and the external environment evolves. Over our 25-year history, every aspect of our services has developed and been adapted to meet the articulated needs of our client group. We have been brave and creative in testing and piloting new models of working, that have enabled CAPE to reach out and bridge the gap in provision of those with complex mental health issues in Ealing. Cape is working in partnership with the Women’s Wellness

Zone (Change, Grow, Live) and is looking for a Mental Health Recovery Worker to be seconded to work within the WWZ team.

**WWZ Overview**:
The Women’s Wellness Zone (WWZ) is a service for women over the age of 18 residing in the

London Borough of Ealing who require support with a variety of complex needs including substance misuse, mental health, domestic abuse/violence, prostitution/trafficking and offending behaviour.

The aim of the service is to provide the support across the range of domains highlighted above, within a safe and confidential environment. To support with sustained recovery, improve health and wellbeing and place in society.

The team will consist of one Substance Misuse Recovery Worker, one Domestic

Abuse/Violence Recovery Worker, one Criminal Justice Recovery Worker, one Outreach

Worker and a Mental Health Recovery Worker which is the post being advertised here.

**Purpose of role**:
Opiate Substitute Treatment (OST) and alcohol detox with support from RISE (CGL Drug and

Alcohol Recovery Service in Ealing. They will also deliver psycho-social interventions on a 1:1 and group basis to support with the range of complexities outlined.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Managing a caseload of mixed complexities
- Increase number of women accessing substance misuse treatment & achieving positive outcomes
- Provide intensive, holistic support to achieve positive outcomes for women with multiple complex needs
- Provide support and access to legal remedies for women experiencing domestic violence
- Identify perpetrators for enforcement activity to provide the women with time and space to focus on their health, wellbeing, and support needs.
- Reduce re-offending
- Divert women from the criminal justice system & custody
- Prevent / reduce harm in situations of custody, offending, or substance misuse and to help where there is family breakdown.
- Structured group work that focuses on a range of diverse psychosocial/psycho
- educational objectives relevant to the client population with whom you are working

(topics might include Building Relationships that Help not Harm; Self-management

Techniques for Improved Mental Wellbeing; Positive Coping Strategies for Anxiety &
Depression)
- 1:1 support to women accessing the daily drop-in service, to include short-term crisis resolution/problem-solving
- Provide harm minimisation support
- Assertive 1:1 outreach that engages and support women with complex needs
- Housing, benefit, and debt advice
- Peer mentoring scheme
- Community volunteer scheme
- Parenting support and signposting to local programmes
- Health and wellbeing support, including signposting to health trainers, smoking cessation, sexual health, & GP registration

**In carrying out the above duties the post holder will**:

- Work flexibly across operational sites and peripatetically within the community as required.
- Work flexibly within an agreed number of hours of work to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision.
- Seek to improve personal performance, contribution, knowledge, and skills.
- Participate in appraisal, training and 1 to 1 processes.
- Keep abreast of developments in services, legislation, and practice relevant to the relevant client group.
- Ensure the implementation of all Change Grow Live policies.
- Contribute to maintaining safe systems of work and a safe environment.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.

**Education Knowledge and Experience**:

- minimum certificate/diploma level psychology
- minimum certificate level counselling skills
- 2 years-experience in a mental health/complex needs setting

**Essential Abilities and Skills**:

- The causes and symptoms of mental health issues
- Illness relapse and prevention, and coping strategies
- Needs and risk assessments
- An understanding of crisis management and the ability to deal with life-threatening situations including suicide
