**Overview**
Astra Signs is one of the UK's leading sign makers, established in Manchester in 1984, we have a wealth of experience in producing world class signage for a wide variety of sectors - particularly hospitality, travel & transportation, retail, leisure and international events.
This role is designed to work within the Operations Team and is a key role to our business.
Within this role you will be responsible for supporting the signage fabrication team and will be required to assemble acrylic, metal / stainless steel signage using various manufacturing methods. Experience from within the traditional signage industry is essential and or POS or a similar fabrication industry is preferred
Working within an innovative signage business, you will be carrying out a high-paced, challenging, and demanding role, where the ability to work within and outside of a team is essential.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Establish tasks set on a daily basis and meeting deadlines
- Attend briefing meetings as and when required
- Follow all principles and practices of sign fabrication.
- Application of Vinyl lettering and logos
- Fabricate metal using CLN Bender.
- Forms material into appropriate shape.
- Installation of LED wiring and LEDs.
- Attaching letters back to sidewall using provided tools
- Mount channel letters on sign trays
- Ensure that all components are produced efficiently, and are consistent with company established goals for quality and customer order on-time performance.
- Maintain a safe and organised working environment by following company procedures and wearing appropriate PPE equipment
- Ability to use various types of processes to manufacturer letters from bonding to soldering
- Maximising the output of the signs to make sure there's no backlog.
- Work with other departments ensuring jobs are cut at the right time for when they are needed.
- Manage stock levels of the consumables and provide a weekly report
- Health and Safety
- Ensure safety guidelines are being met to assure a safe work environment
- Complete all required reports/ safety inspections/ timesheets
- Load and unload parts or product onto fixtures correctly.
- Proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
- Liaise directly with external engineers to solve any issues with the machines and organise engineer visits to rectify problems
- Keep with good housekeeping
**Other Responsibilities**
- Work as part of the assembly team as required to support short deadlines
- Assist in packing where required
**Essential Skills, Experience and/or Qualifications**
- Experience in a similar role within the signage industry
- The ability to work in environments exposed to odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
- Channel Letter Fabrication experience preferred.
- Previous experience working with CLN machines.
- Previous experience working with various materials to include aluminum, sheet metal and various plastic materials.
- Ability to read blue prints or drawings preferred.
- Trim capping experience is desirable
- High attention to detail
- A basic understanding of engineering principals (Drilling, tapping, threading, countersinking,)
- Able to prioritise and multitask in order to complete tasks in a timely manner

This job position is based from the Astra Signs in Trafford Park but may require the individual to attend on-site meetings

The post holder may also be required to carry out any other duties as required by their line manager.
**Salary**: £24,000.00-£27,000.00 per year
