Are you interested in supporting the needs of refugees and asylum seekers who are experiencing mental health difficulties as a result of past trauma?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the delivery of psychological interventions for this vulnerable population through the Cardiff and Vale Traumatic Stress Service.

We are in the position to recruit staff who already have the competence and experience relevant to this part time (15 hours per week) 8a position, or staff who meet the qualification, training and competence for a band 7 post. In the case of the latter, we are able to offer a professional knowledge and skills-based development programme that will provide you with the opportunity to acquire the appropriate skills, competencies and development to enable your progression into the 8a role within an appropriate timescale.

We are looking for a dynamic and energetic psychologist to support those in the NHS and third sector services working with refugees and asylum seekers, by providing clinical consultation, supervision and training to deliver psychosocial therapies/ interventions.

The successful applicant will also undertake limited direct clinical work including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes and contribute to service evaluation, audit and research to support future service commissioning and the development of new models of best practice.

The post-holder will be part of, and well supported by, the Cardiff & Vale Traumatic Stress Service. This Service is a small multidisciplinary team, with a strong track record in research and development.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
