Ideally you will have NHS and/or patient care experience within a Health and Social Care role. This may extend to voluntary roles, including community response or voluntary ambulance services. Alternatively, you may have been in a customer facing role, with experience of dealing with complex or challenging situations and achieving good outcomes with people and colleagues.

Education and Development

ASC will undertake the First Response Emergency Care Courses at Levels 3 & 4 and the Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving (CERAD). Functional Skills

The ASC role requires you to have good applied numeracy and literacy. The role will require you to use technology such as electronic patient report forms and to document the care provided. During your education period you will produce workbooks, undertake written and practical assessments and engage with face to face an online learning.

Teamwork is essential in the ASC role and you must have the knowledge and skills to work with people and contribute collaboratively to care. Part of the role requires receiving clinical direction and decisions and so active listening and an ability to follow clinical direction is important.
