Claims Assistant (with progress to Claims Handler)

Hybrid Flexible working - 2 days in City min. & 3 days at home

Permanent contract

Salary £25,000 + annual bonus + study support & full benefits package

An exciting opportunity to progress your career within the insurance claims arena. Our client is part of one of the worlds largest insurance groups and underwrites property, casualty, and marine risks for clients around the world.

This role is responsible for providing administration support to the Claims team. This includes claims administration, claims handling support and general administration such as diary management. This role is a key part of the Claims team in London and providesa great opportunity to understand and learn about claims handling.

Claims Handling Support (following full training and skills development)
- Regularly run periodic reports for a variety of claims purposes
- Maintaining accurate claims records for specific accounts.
- Work with claims handlers in an administrative capacity on complex losses.
- Respond to straightforward claims correspondence, including outstanding settlements.
- Over time develop sufficient experience to undertake adjustment of claims - investigation, negotiation, and settlement.
- In due course, develop sufficient proficiency to have own authority over specified categories of claims.
- Learn how to properly reserve and settle claims in accordance with reserving guidelines.
- Develop strong working relationships with underwriters and other departments to ensure good communication over claims matters.
- Collaborate with experts to drive best in-class outcomes.

**Team Support and Administration**:

- Undertake general Claims department administration.
- Manage the team's appointments and diaries including booking meeting rooms.
- Support business expense claims

**Skills and Attributes**:

- Some experience within insurance would be ideal.
- A desire to learn, train and progress is essential.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office (essential).
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills
- Analytical skills including numeracy and data analysis.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relations across departments.
- Excellent work management skills, including time management and prioritisation skills
- A team player
- Ideally educated to A Level (or equivalent) standard.
- The role holder will be encouraged to attain an insurance qualification
