**Role Summary** The role reports into the Global Head of Agile and will be accountable for actively driving process within a Scrum Team. Scrum Masters will also support productivity improvement whilst maintaining a high level of quality through the implementation of Agileprocesses and practices, underpinned by tooling and the use of metrics to measure success.

The Scrum Master will coach the Scrum Team in the adoption of the Scrum Framework. Acting as a servant leader, removing impediments and coaching/supporting the team to do the same. The role will facilitate discussions, decision making and conflict resolutionwithin the teams and amongst team members, escalating unresolved issues appropriately through the correct channels.

The Scrum Master will support the Product Owner in ensuring the product backlog meets the Team’s criteria for 'Ready’ and 'Done’ and that product backlog hygiene is constantly maintained.

The Scrum Master assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information to areas of the business that work closely with R&D.
- Responsibilities:_
- _Servant leadership -_ Exhibits the behaviours of a servant leader, helping the team embrace the Scrum core values and adopt Agile principles and best practices.
- _Removes impediments -_ When blocking issues arise that may be beyond the team’s ability to resolve it is up to the Scrum Master to actively address these issues allowing the team to remain focused on achieving their Sprint objectives.
- _Ongoing improvement - _Helps the team improve and take responsibility for their actions. Demonstrates problem-solving techniques allowing the team to become better problem-solvers themselves.
- _Supports progress toward team goals -_ The Scrum Master is trained as a team facilitator and continuously challenges development practices in order to improve performance in the areas of productivity, quality, predictability, flow, and velocitysupported by the analysis of metrics. They help the team focus on daily and Sprint goals in the context of the current Product Roadmap
- _Supports the team rules -_ The Scrum Master is responsible for reinforcing the Scrum Team’s agreed lightweight set of rules. These may include Scrum rules, processes and practices supporting quality, CI/CD, WIP, Definition of Ready, Definition ofDone.
- _Supports the Product Owner -_ The Scrum Master helps the Product Owner in their management of the backlog, including priorities, scope, resourcing and timescales; and ensures the Team are committed to the plan based on collaborative agreement.
- _Supporting estimation -_ Guides the team in establishing normalised estimates and helps the team understand how to estimate functional and non-functional requirements. Facilitates retrospective estimate analysis to improve future estimation activities.
- _Protects and communicates -_ Ability to communicate early with management and stakeholders when issues arise that may impact delivery plans; helps protect the team from uncontrolled scope creep.
- _Inter-team coordination - _The ability to coordinate inter-team events, such as Scrum of Scrums meetings when development dependencies and overlap by multiple teams have been identified. Facilitate meetings that include representatives from multipleteams when necessary to ensure the smooth delivery of inter-team functionality.
- _Builds a high-performing team -_ Focuses on ever-improving team dynamics and performance. Helps the team manage interpersonal conflicts, challenges, and opportunities for growth. Escalates people problems to management where necessary, but onlyafter internal team processes have failed to resolve the issue; helps individuals and teams through personnel changes.
- _Facilitates meetings - _Facilitates all team meetings, including the Daily Stand-up, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective, Sprint Refinement, Scrum of Scrums, Affinity Estimation, Health Checks.
- _Agile guild contribution -_ Participating and contributing to the Agile Guild, sharing experiences and suggestions on improving Agile processes and practices with the wider Scrum Master group.
