MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical The posts are Trust wide, but it is expected that the on-call commitments for post 1 will be at UHND and for post 2 be at DMH. Provides specialist Obstetrics & Gynaecology services to patients across the Trust. Provide emergency Gynaecology cover if skills allow Provide elective Antenatal services, Diagnostic/Emergency Gynaecology, Surgery depending on post holder experience and skills Elective Caesarean section list. Attend the Evidence Based Guidelines meetings, review and updating Obstetrics & Gynaecology guidelines.

Attends weekly risk meetings Work well in a multi-disciplinary team and enthusiasm to lead and develop services Participate in the discussion and recruitment of patients to relevant research trials, with up to date GCP training. Undertakes clinical shifts in the Department at the direction of the Clinical Director for Obstetrics and Gynaecology including participation on the on-call/out of hours/weekend rosters. Conducts regular clinical reviews of patients at appropriate intervals with doctors in training ensuring that the patient records (including discharge summaries) are accurately up-dated after review of each patient Conducts clinical review and clinical management of patients referred to Outpatient services Supports and liaises with patients, families, colleagues, and external agencies to provide coordinated multidisciplinary care. Takes a leadership and mentoring role for doctors in training and others within the Department Responsible for covering Colleagues periods of annual leave and short-term sickness Education/Training Responsible for Clinical supervision of junior medical staff as a shared responsibility with other consultant colleagues Responsible for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to Continuing Medical Education and clinical governance initiatives There is opportunity to work with our simulation center and team to support maternity in house training.

Audit and Research Contributes to departmental research interests in accordance with the Trusts R&D framework. Contributes to the Audit Programme Engages in continuing professional development/education and ensures continuous eligibility for relevant specialist medical registration Participates in relevant clinical governance committees including regular clinical reviews, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and morbidity/mortality reviews as required. Managerial Works in conjunction with clinical and professional colleagues to ensure that the productivity of staff within the specialty is maintained and their job satisfaction is enhanced. This may include involvement in the appraisal process for junior colleagues Undertakes management duties as agreed with the Clinical Director and Head of Service Participates in departmental and other meetings as required to meet Corporate and Service objectives Takes an active role in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the Trusts Objectives.

This may include assisting with discussions regarding service plans and developments with both internal and external agencies Conducts all activities within the contracted level of service and operating plan for the department Exercises professional leadership for all staff working in the specialty PROPOSED JOB PLAN Clinical activity will depend on skills. As a minimum on call for Obstetrics and Gynaecology with onsite and off site cover and include Ockenden ward rounds. Out of hours support for gynaecology can be discussed if needed. Elective work to include 1-2 Antenatal clinics, Gynaecology clinics will depend on skill and further development needs for the post holder, participation elective LSCS lists.
