Chiltern Railways are looking for a Train Dispatcher to join us, based from London Marylebone Station. As a Train Dispatcher you will be responsible for ensuring our trains are departing the station safely and on-time. You will also be responsible for the provision of a proactive customer focused information service and a high quality of customer services for Chiltern customers. Responsible for providing a clean, well-maintained and welcoming environment for all station customers.

This is a safety critical role and will require you to undertake a pre employment medical.

As part of the assessment process you will need to take a Train Dispatch concentration test.

To ensure that trains are dispatched safely and promptly

To ensure the safety of all customers by the implementation of emergency measures in respect of inclement weather conditions in accordance with local instructions

To ensure that a high standard of station cleanliness is maintained in accordance with local instructions

To attend staff briefings as directed by the Senior Station Manager

To secure the station once all passengers from late night trains (including L.U.L.) have left the premises and re-open at the prescribed time in the morning

To supervise the activities of contractor’s overnight and ensure all visitors sign in and out

Assist with the facilitation of unit swaps as instructed by the Marylebone and Banbury ICC controller

Assist drivers in ensuring that all passengers have disembarked before any empty coaching stock move takes place in accordance with local agreements and Rule book Requirements
- Previous experience of working within a customer facing environment

Previous experience of using ‘Trust’ (Train Running System and CIS (Customer Information Service) system

IT literate

Good interpersonal skills

Able to arrive on time to work when no public transport is available

Flexible approach to working conditions and changing working environment.

High Level of attention to detail

Able to attend a changing shift pattern
