**Position**:
Part Time Finance and Payroll Officer. Working 20 - 25 hours per week.

**Salary**

£23000 - £25000 pro rata

**Reporting to**:
Financial Controller

**Base**:
Head Office, Gateshead

**Position Purpose**:
B-Skill are looking to recruit an experienced book-keeper/payroll person to join our team at Head Office.

Supporting the Financial Controller, the post holder will be responsible for providing an efficient and financial support service for the business.

**Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities**:
Financial Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Working alongside the Financial Controller you will support on a range of Finance activities including:

- Cash management in line with negotiated bank facilities - daily monitoring of cash position, and the production of detailed monthly, and longer term cash flow forecasts
- Credit control - chase up monies due in, and agree monthly supplier/associate/ subcontractor payments

**Purchase Ledger**

Updating and maintaining suppliers database

Matching of orders/deliveries and processing of invoices

Reconciliation of supplier statements on a monthly basis

Timely sending of remittance advices for payments made to suppliers

Resolution of purchase ledger queries to ensure prompt payment of accounts

Maintain up to date and accurate filing systems for all administration and supplier correspondence

Communicate with suppliers in a professional manner to maintain supplier relations

**Sales ledger**

Updating and maintaining customers database

Processing invoices using Sage

Credit control

Knowledge of ESFA and other contracts funding regime

**Payroll**

Processing payroll claims and payments

Ensuring timely and accurate Payroll operations, record keeping and reporting

Liaise with the HR Manager on all aspects of the payroll

Workings of salaries

SSP, SMP, AOE Court orders

Pension agreements, and percentages

Student Loans

PAYE and NIC payments and legislation

Checking Tax codes and changing tax code in guidance with HMRC

Completing RTI and submissions to HMRC every month

Year End Procedure

Producing P32, P45, P60, P14 and P11d’s

Process payments

Processing new starters and leavers and informing HMRC

Update spreadsheets

Sending payslips

**Mileage/Expenses**

Checking and processing B-Skill staff mileage and expenses

**Bank Accounts**

Processing bank payments and bank receipts

Management of credit/bank cards

Check and posting of Petty Cash receipts on appropriate account

Check and posting of business card receipts

Bank reconciliation

Checking Bank Statements

Checking cash flow making sure we are on target

**Other Responsibilities**
- Maintain Finance Workspace on the Company’s Intranet (SharePoint)
- Work with the Financial Controllee to develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal control

The post holder may be required to undertake other such responsibilities as are reasonably commensurate with the status of this post.

**Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills Required**

**Experience and Knowledge**
- Experience working at a similar finance level within a small/medium sized organisation
- Use of Sage and other Accounts based packages is essential
- Proficiency using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and a willingness to learn and utilise Aptem and other in-house systems
- Education sector experience an advantage

- Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills allowing you to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
- Must be committed and establish credibility with internal and external clients
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency, manages own time well, meets tight deadlines, is able to prioritise and works flexibly is essential
- Be self-motivated, committed, enthusiastic and a team player
- Works collaboratively with others - considers the client needs, as well as the needs of B-Skill
- Ability to plan against a timeline, and meet demanding deadlines
- Confident and credible communicator, able to present themselves well both verbally and in writing
- Gravitas with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels within the business.
- The ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders will be a key success factor

**Qualifications and Education**
- Book-keeping qualification desirable
- Knowledge of payroll production

**Other Requirements**
- Must be eligible to live and work in the UK
- Must be smart and presentable at all times
