As England’s marine manager, we protect and develop our seas, coasts and communities for the benefit of generations to come. This is a really exciting time to join the MMO as we become an independent coastal state, embedding new repatriated functions and services with an increased focus on the protection and enhancing of the marine environment.Job description
Two roles are available, both sit in the Strategic Renewables Unit which sits across the Marine Planning and Marine Licensing teams and within the wider Marine Development Directorate.
Working within the Strategic Renewables Unit which supports our planning and licensing functions, you will both focus on our strategic approach to offshore renewable energy (particularly windfarms).
**The roles will**:
- help to address medium to long term priorities for the MMO in the context of government ambition for net zero, green recovery and associated policy development;
- provide support or delivery lead for a range of work including technical and operational aspects of strategic projects;
- engage with other parts of the MMO, government contacts, and stakeholders;
- contribute to the functioning of the SRU including to pilot an enhanced integrated way of working across both Planning and Licensing teams;
- Have an initial focus on offshore wind
- Have lead areas (as set out in the accompanying slides), one role is expected to have more engagement in MMO licensing work and the other on marine planning work
