**Permanent Opportunity to Gain Experience Working with Children** Role**:_UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY_** - "Live In-House Parent" Pay rate: DOE When: ASAP Location: Cambridge City Centre, with free on-site parking and accommodation **_LIVE IN ACCOMMODATION PROVIDED, 100% Site based - shift pattern of 5 days on 2 days off with hours of 7am to 3pm/ 3pm to 11pm._** - **_Competitive Salary_** - **_50 days annual leave per annum_** **The Role** Providing top quality pastoral care for the students, making them feel a part of the college community and supporting them in the journey towards independent living. Involving upholding student welfare maintaining discipline and assisting students with theirtime management. You also will support the student's development; socially, emotionally, and physically. **Main Duties and K ey Responsibilities** **Pastoral**: - Raise any health and safety issues to the specified member of college staff. - Report any serious welfare issues to the Designated Safeguarding Lead or deputies immediately. - Conduct wake-up calls to ensure the students attend school on time, following up any attendance issues. - Provide first aid, medical support, and escort students to emergency and routine medical appointments. - Maintain accurate medical records for students. - Supervise and actively support students during study time, detention, and meal times. - Run and support activities, like trips, sports, and clubs. - Carry out sign-out and curfew checks. - Offer support and guidance to all boarders, promote student welfare, and enforce behaviour policies. - Training student reps to assist with daily tasks. - Holding regular meetings with students, running activities, communicating home as appropriate and via termly reports. **Operational**: - Assist the Head of House with ensuring the Gold Standard the residence in catering, cleaning, inventory checks, induction of new students, tours, the organisation of student departures, and room inventories. - Maintain a high standard of boarding by ensuring that accommodation and communal areas are clean and tidy, report any problems, complaints, and maintenance requests. - Carry out room inspections and check all equipment in the rooms are working ever half term. **Administrative**: - Update all student records accurately, including records of behaviour, discipline, rewards, medical history, and medical assistance given. - Attend weekly meetings, sharing concerns and information. - Display and update rotas, menus, event details, Abbey extracurricular programs, local listings, maps, transport, local amenities, and services information. - Review and act in accordance with the Child Protection Policy and Missing Student Policy. **Qualifications / Skills / Experience** - A-levels or equivalent qualifications. - Degree or relevant Boarding qualifications is desired. - Excellent verbal and written skills. - Ability to have clear professional and emotional boundaries. - Good organisational skills, able to work under pressure in emergency situations. - Knowledge of MS Word and Outlook. - Experience of working in residential environments or an educational context is desired but not essential. - Knowledge of record keeping and data protection issues. **Benefits** - Receive on site city centre accommodation with parking. - Utilities, wireless internet, and meals are provided when on duty. - 50 days annual leave per annum.
