English to Thai In-house Translator

Mintel is a global market intelligence company, headquartered in London, UK. Mintel works with the world's most renowned consumer packaged goods companies, suppliers and academic institutions. Now also providing consumer insights into Thai consumers, Mintel is looking for a Thai Translator to join its growing Digital Publishing team.

This opportunity will offer you the chance to develop your expertise as a linguist, specialising in translation with advanced technological skills, as well as building knowledge on market trends and consumer behaviour.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Translating Mintel content from English to Thai in TMS (Translation Management System) and CMS (Content Management System) environments, ensuring that the target text is of maximal fluency and free of errors, literal translations and cumbersome expressions so the Thai content is readily comprehensible to all readers
- Proofreading, editing, revising and finalising translated content of various file types (e.g. Word, JSON) to ensure consistent formatting (e.g. font and structure), language (e.g. spelling, grammar, punctuation, industry-specific terminology) accuracy and fluency
- Reviewing freelancers' translation
- Ensuring that all content across Mintel Thai pages are consistent and in line with the Mintel Style Guide
- Performing on-demand translation tasks from Thai to English
- Preparing, managing and maintaining Thai language materials (including Termbase, Style Guides, Translation Memories) up to quality standards and up to date
- Collaborating with other linguists to resolve questions on terminology and language matters
- Liaising effectively with analysts in different offices and time zones to discuss any unclear points
- Working as part of the team to ensure all departmental deadlines are met
- Participating in the development of new working processes

- Fluency in Thai and strong proficiency in English, with excellent ability to write in Thai and English fluently and idiomatically

**What we are looking for from you**:

- Heightened attention to detail
- Good command of CAT tools, especially Trados is a strong advantage
- Knowledge of TMS and Translation Quality Assurance is desired
- Comfortable with digital work on an in-house CMS
- Previous translation/proofreading experience in the marketing industry is a plus but not essential
- Good working knowledge of the Microsoft package
- Ability to work effectively and be able to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to analyse the macrostructure of the content and its overall coherence; read critically and ask questions
- Strong commercial awareness
- A well-grounded understanding of or interests in consumer markets would be an advantage
