**The Role**

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join our wealth management portfolio team as a Senior Associate. The team is responsible for the supervision of around 600 firms with business models that include private banks, discretionary fund managers and stockbrokers. You will be part of the Investment Intermediaries Department within Consumer Investments that is also responsible for the supervision of financial advisers and investment-based crowdfunding. This role will give you the opportunity to build excellent stakeholder, analytical and project management skills; taking action that improves the way firms in the sector operate ultimately delivering better outcomes for consumers.

Our priority is to ensure consumer interests are central to the firms within each of these sectors. We reduce the harm to consumers, in particular, harm arising from unsuitable advice/unsuitable high-risk investments, fraud and disorderly firm failure. As a Senior Associate in the team, you will support the team in delivery of our supervisory priorities. Working alongside your colleagues you will work closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will also play an important role in helping to shape, implement and deliver the Wealth supervision and wider departmental strategy.

**What does the role involve?**:

- Developing and delivering assertive supervision and mitigation strategies, setting clear expectations to firms, influencing, persuading and where appropriate, using formal powers to change conduct behaviour to deliver better outcomes for consumers
- Undertake analysis of the business models/strategies of firms, and identifying how conduct risks could cause harm to consumers and/or markets
- Make sound judgements that solve problems identified, through evidence-based analysis from information and data about firms and wider industry issues
- Develop constructive working relationships with senior management in the firms we supervise
- Deliver targeted and effective communications to key stakeholders, internally and externally
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach across the FCA and leverage specialist input where required
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of internal processes by suggesting changes that result in better outcomes and efficient use of resources

**About You**- Financial services experience
- Experience of managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management
- Experience of analysing complex information or data from various sources

Essential
- An understanding of the FCA’s approach to supervision: including risk management and prioritisation approaches
- Strong communication skills: you can communicate key messages effectively and explain complex issues clearly and concisely
- Strong understanding of FCA tools and powers: you will need to consider how we might be able to use our tools and powers to support our mitigation action
- Stakeholder management: you can build effective working relationships to support the delivery of supervisory objectives, flexing your style to build consensus and influence a range of diverse stakeholders
- An analytical mind-set and effective decision-making skills
- Strong sense of accountability: you take ownership of problems and drive forward pragmatic action-based solutions
- Organisational skills and prioritisation: you can effectively manage competing priorities, which may change at short notice, and be able to adapt to change

Desirable
- Existing knowledge and experience of the Retail Investments/ Wealth Management sector
- Project management skills: proven experience of managing projects to time cost and quality
- Financial analysis: knowledge and understanding of the prudential regimes in place and the ability to analyse firms' financial information / business plans
