£35k-£42k (negotiable) + pension and flexible benefits (working from home, office & client site hybrid)

**Job Purpose**:
The duties of the Network / Security Engineer include (but are not limited to):
- Point of contact for Network issues, as well as being responsible for understanding risks, vulnerability and attack vectors facing the business and clients
- Performance management of customer networks and making changes to ensure security and best practice standards are fulfilled
- Development and implementation of existing & new services as well as technologies
- Keep documentation current and up to date and help feed back information to other teams within the organisation
- Work with users and customers to form and fix appropriate policies, configurations and rules based on perimeter security devices
**Network / Security Engineer Essential Experience & Skills**:
- Experience in a previous role identifying threats, configuration of devices, deployments and troubleshooting infrastructure hardware including switches
- Responsible for Management (including configuration & patching) of firewalls & switches & WAPs (Cisco IOS devices, Cisco Meraki, Palo Alto, Zyxel)
- Problem-solving skills that can be used to explain and troubleshoot real-time scenarios
- DNS (Record types, propagation, types of DNS server)
- Routing, NAT & PAT
- Experience of network monitoring and configuration (inc SNMP)
- Knowledge of VPN Tunnelling
- Understanding alerting systems and reacting to prioritised alerts, helping to consolidate alerts by thinking outside the box for improving alerting and monitoring services
**Desirable but not essential experience & skills for the Network / Security Engineer**:
- Any appropriate accreditation from CompTIA, Cisco or other manufacturer
- Knowledge of intrusion detection systems & intrusion prevention systems
- Experience with vulnerability management
- Experience with a SOC or SIEM system
- SSL knowledge
- Administrative experience of RMM platforms or equivalent at MSP level
- Experience with Audits/Cyber Essentials
- Experience or knowledge of deploying security platforms such as antivirus, EDR and vulnerability scanning to end user devices
**ENGINEER PAY, BENEFITS & WORKING HOURS**
£35k to £42k, negotiable upon experience; pension and flexible benefits. Working hours 9am-5:30pm, Mon-Fri, flexibility required to cover activities within core hours of 8am-6pm.Occasional out of hours working may be requested - work will be a hybrid of officeand home based, as well as on client sites.
