Active Outdoors Assistant

We’re looking for someone to be on the ground keeping our entry-level sports profile high and delivering our outdoor activities across the summer holidays in a safe and engaging manner. Helping everyone, especially families and young people get a little more active while enjoying the simple pleasures that Attingham provides.

The National Trust team here today conserve and care for the estate carrying on the legacy of the eighth Lord and Lady Berwick who left the estate to the National Trust in 1947.

Whatever your role, you’ll play your part in helping us build relationships and make connections with our regular visitors, those new to Attingham, and those yet to visit, so we can keep Attingham a special place now, and for everyone, and for ever. Attingham Park is arguably Shropshire’s greatest estate.

Built in 1785 and owned by the same family for five generation, today it is around 4,000 acres in size, and at its heart is a mansion, parkland, walled garden, play space, deer park and various food and beverage and retail outlets.

What you'll be doing:As a hard-working, committed and friendly individual who is a team player, you will be out on the ground promoting and delivering our outdoor activities for the summer. You will be key to promoting and generating income to the events line by involving visitors with our summer programme.

Feedback is hugely important to us so you will be instrumental in collecting feedback from visitors who take part in our activities.

You will also play a leading role in supporting the Summer Activity Volunteers as they deliver hoc outdoor activities alongside you.

As a champion of exceptional visitor experiences and fulfilling our ambition of being full of life and locally loved you will contribute to our whole range of visitors having outstanding and inspirational experiences and maximising opportunities to deepen their understanding of our stories, our cause and emotional connections to our property and people. Through outdoor activity you will be a key player in attracting new audiences to our site in active, safe, meaningful and engaging ways.

You will work alongside volunteers and work closely with all departments and external sports providers. Weekend working will be essential.
- Who we're looking forSomeone who is creative and enthusiastic and wants to share adventures and activities with our audiences.
- You do not need to have previous sports coaching experience however, you do need to enjoy being active and encouraging others to take part at every level.
- Unafraid of a challenge but with a level head for responding to busy demands from visitors.
- Adept at managing the expectations of various stakeholders, such as multi-generational families, those with additional needs, sports partners, and community groups.
- As a first point of contact for the property for active outdoor activity you will be friendly, approachable and a people person.
