Working within Medical Excellence, and reporting to the Scientific Training Director, the **Scientific Training Lead** will play a pivotal role in the development of strategically aligned scientific training to support healthcare practice change and therapies within the BioPharmaceutical Business Unit. By identifying key medical training needs and delivering solutions through innovative and engaging strategies, this role will ensure medical colleagues have the scientific expertise to influence clinical practice and ensure AstraZeneca’s medicines reach the right patient at the right time. **Typical accountabilities**: - Focus on global scientific training support for COPD healthcare practice change, inhaled and biologic therapies for COPD, PT027 and new indications for existing respiratory products, with leadership of US respiratory MSL training - Perform a robust needs assessment to identify medical training needs aligned with BioPharmaceutical Medical strategy - Develop robust training plans to build scientific expertise across the broad range of office and field based medical personnel - Ensure training implementation and execution training via a range of media - Work with vendors and other training providers as required to support delivery of scientific training - Manage budget for training within your areas of focus - Manage activities to measure the effectiveness of scientific training; develop solutions for escalation and implementation as required - Ensure the review and maintenance of high calibre training materials aligned to franchise priorities - Responsible for the management of scientific content housed on the appropriate medical learning platforms - Work collaboratively and support the Training Director who is accountable for the overall training strategy across the entire BBU therapeutic area - Conduct activities and interactions consistent with Company values and in compliance with the Code of Conduct and supporting Policies and Standards relevant to the role. Complete all required training on the AZ Code of Conduct and supporting Policies and Standards on time. Report potential issues of non-compliance **Essential Requirements**: - Bachelor’s degree in biological science or related field (such as pharmacology, pharmacy, medicine), with an advanced degree preferable (e.g. Pharm D, PhD, MD) - Pharmaceutical or related medical experience (>3 years), preferably in the therapeutic area - Strong knowledge of medical learning & development, science liaison teams, medical strategy, and clinical development - Ability to communicate effectively, with facilitation, presentation and interpersonal communication skills in a variety of formats and a proven ability in verbal and written English - Experience of successful influencing cross-functionally, cross-culturally and cross-brands - Experience of effective working in a multi-cultural, multi-location team - Previous experience in a global or regional role desirable
