**Job overview**:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist( SALT) to join our Mid Cornwall team. The post is part time and based in St Austell Hospital and the surrounding area. The post holder would hold a caseload of preschool children with complex communication needs and will be working closely with families and our Early Years colleagues in the Council and settings to achieve positive outcomes.
The post holder will join an established county wide team of SALTs who work with this population of children. This post and the wider team are also responsible for leading on service improvement initiatives including participating in multi agency developments.
The post holder will work with Preschool children in their homes, settings and occasionally in the local clinic. They will be regularly contributing to Education Health and Care needs assessments as well as having a key role in ASD diagnostics in the Early Years.
They will support transition into either mainstream or special school and work closely with their community colleagues who will continue to provide SALT support.
The main SALT service provides regular supervision to all staff and delivers and annual CPD programme. It is currently going through a significant period of redesign with active participation encouraged from all levels of the service. This will result in a new delivery model based on pathways and episodes of care and we already have a new single point of access.
**Main duties of the job**:
To be area wide clinical lead for specialist area, representing the service on relevant multiagency groups and advising the Head of Therapies on issues that relate to practice in specialist area.
To work with the Head of Therapies to ensure that staff develop the skills and competencies to meet the needs of designated specialist client group through provision of training, etc.
To co-ordinate and provide clinical supervision, design and evaluate specific projects.
To advise Therapy Lead on the development of the skills of the wider workforce to meet the of client group working collaboratively with the Team around the child.
Have responsibility for some service-wide development projects, as appropriate and as requested by Head of Therapies.
To carry a highly specialist caseload of preschool children with needs in the specialist area working
