The Mary Lyon Centre at MRC Harwell (MLC)is located in an expanding science innovation park in Oxfordshire and is an internationally renowned centre at the forefront of genetics research. As the hub of the new National Mouse Genetics Network, the specialistfacilities and capabilities of the MLC support a package of distinctive research clusters spread across the UK to accelerate our understanding of human disease.

**About the role**

The Business Development and Partnership Manager is an exciting new role, in which the postholder will be required to lead on the development of new business partnerships and academic collaborations whilst maintaining and growing the existing MLC outreachportfolio. The postholder will report directly to the Director of the MLC and will be a member of the MLC senior leadership team.

**Key responsibilities will require the postholder to**:

- Lead all strategic and operational aspects of the MLC’s external engagement and collaboration activity.
- Lead on incorporating business input into the MLC’s strategy, supporting both national targets for the Mary Lyon Centre, Advance Training Centre as well as those of the National Mouse Genetics Network
- Develop and manage a portfolio of partnership projects.
- Be the point of contact with larger public and commercial organisations
- Oversee contractual negotiations with external partners, working with the MLC’s external advisors (e.g. UKRI, legal and intellectual property (IP) teams) to optimise contractual arrangements.

**About you**

**You will have**:

- A PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
- A diploma or equivalent in project management
- Extensive experience in a business development role in an academic, funder, biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting
- Knowledge of genetic research and experience of assembling business strategies
- Evidence of a strong understanding of IP and approaches to managing the flow of IP in collaborative projects
