We are currently seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to work at one of our local school’s in Portsmouth.

The school provides education for Portsmouth pupils who are unable to attend mainstream school for either Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Needs or medical reasons. There are 95 places for learners with Education and Health Care Plans (EHCPs),105 Alternative Provision (AP) places and 38 places funded from the ‘medical block’. The school makes provision for learners who require a short period of Alternative Provision away from mainstream school and for learners with long term and complex SEMH Needs.We operate under an SLA with Portsmouth City Council and are in the process of converting to academy status.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be working with students in classes between 5-8 students, accompanied by a Teacher and other Support Assistants. You will be working with children and young people who are not able attend mainstream education formultiple reasons.
- Some experience working with children and young people (it is desirable if you have experience working with children with SEMH/challenging behaviour)
- **Motivation, passion, patience** and the ability to **emotionally support children who are from vulnerable backgrounds and situations**.

- Competitive pay rates of **£275-£350 per week**, however long term rates can be negotiated on your behalf

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
