The role requires flexibility and is **not** a fixed 9-5 position. This role is ideal if you are currently studying, recently graduated or you are looking for part time & term time work. The support is based on campus.

**About us**:Cosmic People are a DSA registered provider of NMH support to students with disabilities in Higher Education. We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a specialist note taker supporting students who are visually and/or hearing impaired by taking notes electronically during lectures. As a current student or graduate, you will have a good understanding of the university environment and be able to capture the important points of the lecture.

Cosmic People are family run company with over 10 years’ experience, who pride ourselves in providing excellent NMH (Non-Medical Helper) support to students with disabilities in Higher Education.

**About the role**:
This role will suit someone looking for part time work alongside their own studies and commitments.

The role is also combined with other types of academic support depending on student need, this support includes:
**Study assistant**

**Library assistant**

**Exam support**

**Practical support**

**Sighted guide**

Training is included in the role.

**Requirements for the role:

- **
- Laptop owner
- Live in close proximity to a university
- Knowledge of I.T. and remote working platforms e.g., Zoom, Skype, Teams
- Fast and accurate typist with a speed of at least 50wpm
- Have excellent communication, time management and organisational skills
- A good knowledge of the English to include spelling and grammar
- Be able to work flexibly to support student’s needs
- Be reliable, punctual and resilient
- Be able to recognise and capture the main points of a lecture and type simultaneously whilst listening to the speaker
- Maintain professional boundaries and respect confidentiality and data protection requirements
- Be hard-working, capable and confident and able to work on your own initiative
- Have excellent interpersonal skills; empathy, diplomacy and sensitivity
- Have a genuine desire to make a difference and help others

**Pay rate:

Notetaking: £12.00ph + holiday pay

Other roles: £11.44ph (over 21) + holiday pay or £10.50ph (under 21) + holiday pay

**Job Types**: Part-time, Zero hours contract

Pay: £10.50-£12.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
