We are currently recruiting for an experienced Intelligence Officer to work on a full-time contract based in Preston, Lancashire.

The role involves working for a UK Police Force, and therefore successful applicants will be expected to undergo national security background checks.

**Job Purpose**:
Provide an efficient and effective intelligence support function to the Force ensuring an efficient flow of information through the department and thenproduction of quality National Intelligence Model Products.

Maintain intelligence systems to ensure the Force is provided with a current and accurate intelligence picture.

**Main Duties**:

- Process requests for information from other Forces and external agencies ensuring threat, risk or harm issues are dealt with in a timely manner and any disclosure complies with National and Force policies.
- Receive, evaluate, research, process and disseminate information and intelligence from various sources, including Crimestoppers, in line with Force policies and procedures.

Research and develop intelligence using databases operated by UK and international law enforcement agencies.
- Develop your skills and knowledge to enhance the performance of FIB in order to service the Force and external organisations, for example, Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Passport Office, Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), E-Borders, Interpol, Her Majesty’s Prison Service (HMPS) etc. and facilitate the sharing and cross flow of information
- Monitor departmental mailboxes and work-trays to ensure all information is managed appropriately.
- Handle NIR graded material and intelligence reports appropriately.
- Liaise and establish good working relationships with Divisions, other Forces, and outside agencies in respect of intelligence matters to ensure excellent channels of communication and information sharing.
- Respond positively and promptly to requests for guidance/advice on all issues relating to intelligence matters.
- Undertake any clerical and administrative duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the Force Intelligence Bureau.
- Work co-operatively with team members and colleagues, contributing positively and constructively to the achievement of team and organisational objectives.
- Understand and assess compliance with MOPI, Data Protection Principles, Government Protective Marking Scheme and other relevant legislation. Ensure data quality and standards are maintained.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Experience of interrogating and researching computer systems and databases.
- The ability to demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly relating to the collection, collation and recording of information.
- Knowledge of the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and the intelligence grading system
- Experience of researching, evaluating and disseminating information / intelligence.
- Experience of working effectively as a member of a multifunctional team.
- Experience of making decisions and taking appropriate action
- The ability to work to deadlines and tight timescales within a pressurised environment
