Apprentice Floor Layer

**Description of what the apprentice will do in their role**:
We are looking for a motivated **Apprentice Floor layer** to join our team and train in **têxtile and resilient flooring installation**. This apprenticeship will provide hands-on experience and expert training in laying a variety of flooring materials, including carpets, vinyl, linoleum, and rubber flooring.

As a Floor layer Apprentice, you will learn the specialist skills involved in preparing, fitting, and finishing a wide range of flooring materials including:

- **Textile flooring**: such as carpets, carpet tiles, and underlay
- **Resilient flooring**: including vinyl sheets, tiles, and slip-resistant coverings

You’ll work alongside experienced floor layers learning how to prepare surfaces, measure and cut materials, and install high-quality flooring in **commercial, industrial, and residential** settings.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Learn techniques to accurately measure, cut, and fit flooring materials such as carpets, vinyl, and rubber.
- Install underlays, trims, and finishes to achieve a high-quality result.
- Learn how to accurately seam, stretch and edge finishing
- Work safely with hand / power tools and cutting equipment.
- Follow site safety regulations and maintain a clean workspace.
- Work as part of a team and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Attend college/training sessions as required to complete your apprenticeship standard.

**Skills & Requirements**:

- A keen interest in flooring and practical, hands-on work.
- Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Basic mathematical skills for measuring and cutting materials.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness and ability to carry materials and work on your feet.
- A positive attitude and commitment to completing the apprenticeship.
- Outstanding communication skills both with colleagues and customers
- Excellent attendance and timekeeping.
- A driving license to enable you to get to Jobs & Attend College/Training Sessions

**No experience is needed** - full training will be provided through your apprenticeship provider and day-to-day support from the Hilcrest Flooring Solutions team.

**Comprehensive Floor Laying Training**:
During your Standard Level 2 Floor Layer apprenticeship programme you will receive training both off and on the job. You will be trained at the employer within the workplace and also at FITA Training Centre in Loughborough on a block release basis for a week at a time, every 10 weeks, and costs are covered by the employer.

You will learn the underpinning knowledge that runs alongside your practical elements of the training. WEBS Training aim to build on the skills you already have so you reach your full potential both personally and professionally.

Training will be provided in all areas of floor laying to ensure you can produce quality and technical installations using both têxtile and resilient flooring, to produce aesthetically pleasing and fit for purpose outcomes.

If you have already achieved GCSE maths and English at Grade 4/C or above or have equivalent qualification you will be exempt from undertaking Functional Skills, however English and maths support will be provided for all apprentices throughout the length of their programme.

**Pay**: £15,000 per year

**Schedule**:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 3:30pm

**Work Location**: On-Site
