**Role: Pre-Nursery Room Leader**
**Hours: Full time and all year-round**
**Essential Criteria for Application: Previous Room Leader experience in a Nursery setting**
**Main Duties**
- Being specifically responsible for the 2 - 3year olds; working closely with the Nursery Manager in ensuring consistency and quality across the dept.
- To uphold the standards set by the school/nursery and assist in the provision of high quality child care, always striving to raise attainment and provide high quality education and care.
- To have a sound knowledge of the current EYFS curriculum and undertake training to remain up to date when appropriate.
- Planning and being responsibility for providing rich learning opportunities by organising the staff, the activities and the timings of the day.
- Following the EYFS curriculum to allow young children to develop, focusing on outcomes and providing meaningful and varied experiences.
- Be responsible for written records of planning and assessment and implementation of this, including areas of continuous provision, inside and outside.
- To have an overarching knowledge of the children’s progress and attainment in their room and to support staff to plan for all levels and abilities.
- Make accurate and effective use of assessment, reflecting the needs, interests and stages of development of the individual children and planning for next steps and further support the team to fulfil this role.
- To ensure high quality pastoral care and have robust behaviour management systems in place within their room.
- To motivate and inspire the staff within the room, providing the best standard of care and opportunities whilst being a good role model.
- To be responsible for ensuring the staff team follow all safety and welfare procedures and keep accurate records of this on the school systems (CPOMs/Evolve/Accident Book/registers etc)
- Promote and facilitate partnership with parents, including parent enquiries, concerns and progress meetings; feedback and overseeing entries to systems such as Tapestry.
- To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children, ensuring the setting’s policies and procedures are observed at all times.
- To participate fully in the holiday provision and maintain standards of care and welfare during this period.
- To have a sound knowledge of the EYFS statutory guidance and to work with the Nursery Manager to ensure all elements within this are met (ratios, number of children allowed in the space, keyworker system etc)
- Liaise with the Nursery Manager to ensure all aspects of staff performance are in line with the expectations of the setting and to support the Nursery Manager to identify CPD needs (support with supervision/recognising CPD needs)
- Liaise with the Nursery Manager to contribute to regular staff meetings and to disseminate information to their team as required.
- Liaise with the Nursery Manager to ensure the smooth running of the day, ensuring Health and Safety measures are adhered to at all times, and that any issues are reported appropriately.
- Liaise with the Head of Early Years and Nursery Manager to support children identified as having an additional need, working alongside other agencies, when required.
- To be flexible with the working practices of the school eg undertaking certain domestic jobs within the school and attending some events such as the regular Open Days.
Complete any other reasonable task at the direction of the Nursery Manager or Head of Early Years
**SPECIFIC CHILD CARE TASKS**:
- The preparation and completion of activities to suit the child's stage of development
- To ensure that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing
- Washing and changing children (when required)
- Providing comfort and warmth to all children
- Providing conscientious and effective supervision of the children
- To interact, engage and supervise children, encouraging them and support their learning
- To act as a role model at all times and use appropriate language
- To maintain and reinforce good and fair behaviour
- To ensure toys and equipment are looked after and stored correctly
- Assist with settling in new children
- To be aware of ratio requirements when working with children.
To participate fully in the Holiday Provision and maintain standards of care and welfare during this period.
