**About the Role**:
We are looking for a compassionate and proactive **De-escalation Mentor**to join our supportive team at a **Primary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Hailsham**. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children who need additional emotional and behavioural support.

As a De-escalation Mentor, you will help pupils regulate their emotions, develop resilience, and engage positively with their learning. Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you’ll contribute to building a calm, safe, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Support pupils with **social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH)**in both 1:1 and small group settings
- Use **positive behaviour management**and **de-escalation techniques**to manage challenging situations effectively
- Promote pupils’ personal development, confidence, and emotional wellbeing
- Build trusting relationships that encourage positive behaviour and engagement
- Record incidents accurately and follow safeguarding procedures
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to provide consistent support

**About You**:

- Experience working with pupils with **SEMH needs**or challenging behaviour (in education, youth work, or care settings)
- A calm, empathetic, and patient approach
- Confidence using **restorative and de-escalation strategies**
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine desire to help children achieve their best outcomes

Training such as **Team Teach**, **MAPA**, or similar SEMH-related qualifications is desirable, though full training will be provided for the right person.
