We are looking to recruit an organised and caring individual to improve the lives of people with serious mental illness by contributing to the delivery of Adferiad Recovery’s services in Bridgend, in line with our commitment to principles of empowerment, self-management and recovery.

Adferiad Recovery delivers a recovery model of housing support which includes both shared accommodation and floating support to individuals living independently. Staff will support individuals who experience a serious mental illness and who will need a medium level of support to help with their recovery. The service will be staffed 7 days a week, including unsocial hours. The aim of the team is to encourage and enable clients to reach a greater level of independence, and then to facilitate their move on and or maintain their independence.

**Main duties**:

- Supporting and assisting occupants with the following:

- feeling secure within their homeo increasing independent living skillso use appliances safely, undertaking routine and minor domestic repairs, and maintaining reasonable domestic standardso personal finance, budgeting, and accessing benefitso mental and physical healthcareo self-management of medicationo attending appointmentso visitors and their access to individual’s propertyo building and maintaining relationships with neighbours, families, friends, professionalso developing skills and interestso pursuing training/educational/employment goals and aspirationso pursuing leisure/recreational goals and interestso developing links with the local community-based resources and opportunities
- signposting, joint work and referral on to other specialist agencies, intervening in crisis situations
- recognition of and coping strategies in respect of risk, triggers and avoiding relapse
- housing move-on planning and arrangements from the housing project (resettlement activities)
- promoting recovery.

**To be considered for this role you will need**:

- There are no specific qualifications but there must be evidence of commitment to personal and career development relevant to the post.
- NVQ/QCF Competencies in Health and Social Care Level 2 would provide some evidence of competence for the post and all staff would be required to hold or complete this as part of their employment
- Experience of providing care and support services to people with a serious mental illness, OR
- Experience of providing care and support services within a social care setting, OR
- A significant experience of personally using mental health services in a serious mental health setting, OR
- A significant experience of caring for someone using mental health services in a serious mental illness service setting, OR
- Experience working as a volunteer on a regular weekly basis with people with a serious mental illness.
