Lancashire Music Service (LMS) is a business unit working within LCC in a competitive environment, generating business and providing outstanding standards of customer care for both internal and external customers.

The Business Support Team is focused on supporting and maintaining these standards and has a significant role in the continuing expansion of the Music Service by displaying a professional attitude and commitment to the delivery of a first-class administrative service in all aspects of our business.

LMS provides tuition, ensembles and support to meet the needs of children wishing to learn to play a musical instrument. The service has over 170 specialist teachers delivering weekly tuition to over 18,000 pupils with in excess of 26,000 instruments on loan to schools/parents across the county at any one time. LMS enables pupils to develop their musical skills further through a range of bands and orchestras. 8 Music Centres meet in the evenings providing a range of ensembles from beginner to advanced levels. 5 County Ensembles rehearse at weekends catering for the needs of advanced pupils.

LMS is looking to recruit two casual Grade 3 Business Support Officers. These colleagues will support the Lancashire Youth Concert Band (LYCB) and Inspire Ensemble held at Lostock Hall Academy on Saturdays, and the Lancashire Youth Orchestras and Street Band held at St Michael's Church of England High School on Sundays. They will support the delivery of any instrumental and singing lessons at the centres as required. They will also assist the ensemble directors and be responsible for undertaking the front of house duties, ensuring students are registered in and out of the centre on a weekly basis, maintaining medical records, registers and any other administration tasks set by the ensemble directors.

There are two casual posts as follows:
The Lancashire Youth Concert Band post is 3 hours per week, 16 weeks per year, Saturdays. It is based at Lostock Hall Academy, 67 Todd Lane North, Lostock Hall, Preston PR5 5UR from 9.30am - 12.30pm.

The Lancashire Youth Orchestras and Street Band post is 3 hours per week, 16 weeks per year, Sundays. It is based at St Michael's Church of England High School, Astley Rd, Chorley PR7 1RS from 9.30am - 12.30pm.
