**The Role**

As a Waking Nights Home Companion, you would stay in the client’s home throughout the night and be on hand to assist if and when required. The majority of our clients are elderly and live in their own homes across Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Chalfont, Amersham, Stokenchurch and surrounding areas

**Where Do You Spend the Night & How Do You Stay Occupied?**

Each home environment is different but generally you will spend the night in the client’s living room whilst they sleep in their bedroom. Asides from actual care, sometimes there may be quiet housekeeping tasks to carry out such as ironing, there will however likely be opportunity to read a book, watch TV or catch up on some personal admin in between providing support and regularly checking on the client.

**Tasks Could Include**:

- Helping the client get ready for bed
- Reassurance if they wake during the night
- Personal care
- Companionship if the client cannot sleep
- Mobility support should they get up in the night
- Turning and re-positioning
- Medication support
- Providing fluid
- Basic housework

**Flexible Night Shifts**

Typically, a shift ranges from 9 hours to 11 hours in duration, starting around 9pm or 10pm and finishing between 6.00 am and 8.00 am. You can choose what length shift you would like to work and will be paid an hourly rate so that you earn fairly whether you do a short or long duration shift. For instance, you might state that you can work only until 6.30 am as you need to get home to prepare the children for school. You can also opt to work just 2 nights per week all the way up to 5 nights.

**Experience**:

- hands-on adult/elderly social care: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- driving licence with access to a car (required)
- Do you live within 15 miles of High Wycombe (preferred)
