JOB DESCRIPTION - Care Assistant - Full/Part Time Nights
A Responsible to: - Matron
Job Purpose: - To provide a safe and comfortable environment for our
Residents.

Job Role: - Under the direction and supervision of a qualified nurse will
Carry out assigned duties; including direct care as a member
Of the nursing team, or by helping with general organisation
within the home.

Main Duties

1. Promote quality for all residents and understand their basic needs for health.

2. Assist the primary/associate nurse as required in the giving of care within the
Home’s agreed guideline for the activities of the care assistant.

3. Assist residents to meet their daily living needs as assessed and indentified in their
Personal care plan.

4. Recognise and be aware of the effects of residential care on the resident and their
Family.

5. Carry out delegated non-nursing activities to assist the nursing assistants and duty
Nurse.

6. Facilitate good inter team communication and liaise with the nursing assistants
And duty nurse keeping them informed of all matters relating to patient care and
Practice.

7. Contribute to maintaining the home’s agreed philosophy, aims and high standards.
Promote the home positively.

8. Understand and comply with all the homes policies and procedures.
- Fire precautions and procedures
- Control of infection
- Care of property
- Accidents and complaints/untoward incident to staff; residents and visitors
9. Maintain the confidentiality, dignity and care the residents.

10. Attend all mandatory training course as per detailed in the contract.

11. Participate in appraisal and performance reviews.

12. Be a role model for trainee care assistants and assist them in the development of

13. Assist in a case of an emergency with house-keeping; laundry; kitchen or any other
Non-nursing duties as delegated by the nursing assistant or nurse in charge.

14. To undertake any other duties specified by Management.
