Senior Therapeutic Parent

We are currently looking to recruit enthusiastic and passionate Senior Therapeutic Parents to work within a challenging young people's service in Cheadle, Stockport.
**Key Responsibilities for Senior Therapeutic Parents**:
- You will deliver a recovery programme offering sensitive and caring re-parenting to children aged between 4 and 12 who have experienced trauma in their lives.
- You will be caring for children who can at times display complex and challenging behaviours at times, you will offer therapeutic parenting techniques to meet the children's' social, emotional, cultural and educational needs.
- Assist in the day to day running of the home including domestic duties and paperwork / record keeping working closely with onsite deputy lead therapeutic parents, clinical and education teams to provide tailored psychological recovery programmes for eachchild.
- Ensure delivery of a high quality service that is responsive to the needs and wishes of the young people and promotes their independence in the wider community.
- Contribute to the development of the child through the provision of a therapeutic home environment and being a committed and consistent adult role model.
- Provide warmth and care for our children providing personal care needs, cooking, cleaning, washing, shopping and budgeting pocket monies or by promoting our children to carry out such tasks themselves, where appropriate.
- Support the child with onsite or mainstream education attendance completinghomework and other school related activities.
- Work in partnership with other services and community organisations in the best interests of the young people.
- Promote education and employment opportunities for young people including the development of semi-independent skills.
- Administer medication to children who require it and ensure that you abide by themedication policies and procedures.
- Give staff handovers before commencing or leaving a shift engaging in a thorough handover to ensure staff can take over a shift safely.
- Implement company policies and procedures.
- Diploma Level 3 Caring for Children & Young People or equivalent.
- Ideally, a graduate with a relevant degree (e.g. Psychology/Educational Psychology)
- Previous experience in shift leading in children's residential care settings.
- Possess the knowledge and skills in previous role or work to support young people with challenging behaviour, psychological trauma and health needs.
- Strong team working skills with a dynamic approach to work and the ability to lead and manage a team of people.
- Full UK driving license.
**The salary for Senior Therapeutic Parents role is £27,500-£29,500 depending on experience.**
