Location - Inscape House School, Cheadle, Cheshire

Reporting to - Relevant Deputy Head Teacher

Aim of post

To enable all students to engage in education by supporting their safeguarding and welfare needs. This will involve working with students, staff, parents and carers to address barriers to learning and ensure effective safeguarding policies, practices andprocedures are in place. The role will involve support for families and regular liaison with families, social workers and other external agencies.

Inscape House School is a non-maintained ASC specialist day school for children and young people aged 5 to 19 years. It is part of the Together Trust, a charity that has been providing care, education and support in the North West of England since 1870.

Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults is a priority for all employees.

Key responsibilities include but are not exhaustive;
- Identify strategies to help overcome individual students’ barriers to learning relating to mental health, welfare or other safeguarding concerns.
- Run lunch clubs, intervention groups and 1:1 sessions to support student wellbeing.
- Assist the Senior Leadership Team and relevant Deputy Headteacher to ensure all staff have access to and understand how to use our centralised safeguarding reporting system.
- Liaise with staff to support the safeguarding and welfare of students.
- Attend relevant meetings regarding the safeguarding or welfare of students.
- Act as a key point of contact for parents/carers in relation to pastoral, wellbeing and safeguarding issues, involving relevant staff members as necessary.
- Build positive relations with parents/carers to encourage family involvement.
- Monitor safeguarding concerns electronically and follow up by categorising concerns and taking follow-up action under the supervision of the SLT and the headteacher.
- Maintain accurate records of interventions and review their effectiveness.

About you

We are looking for a Senior Educational Assistant for Safeguarding, Family Support and Liaison with experience of working in a school environment or other educational setting supporting children / young people with additional needs. Do you also have experienceof supporting and working with parents and carers of young people with additional needs?

Can you plan, tailor and deliver targeted interventions with effective written and verbal communication skills?

Do you have knowledge of the barriers to learning that students may face, particularly in relation to mental health difficulties?

Do you thrive creating strong and trusting relationships with children, staff, parents/carers and external agencies?

Are you creative enabling pupils to be stretched and challenged to develop goals through the school day?

Are you driven to help someone reach their potential?
