Communications Advisor

Job Introduction
As a **Communications Advisor** at **HMNB Portsmouth **you will efficiently support the integrated internal communications campaigns for His Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth. **What you’ll do**:

- Work as part of the Team Portsmouth communications team to ensure a pro-active, consistent, and co-ordinated communications service
- To support the Communications Manager in strategic internal communications and planning to ensure those working and living on the Naval Base understand the mission and vision
- With a key focus on promoting, fostering, and building stakeholder relationships to protect and improve the reputation of the business and communicate effective outcomes.
- Support the delivery of effective planned communications campaigns and strategies
- Ensure service excellence is delivered across all communications activities
- Be willing to innovate to enable stakeholders to contribute to business objectives and act as conduits for the enhancement of business objectives
- Take guidance from the Communications Manager in the delivery of team objectives
- Work with internal stakeholders to facilitate business and change communication objectives and achieve joint aims
- Content management and super-user for the Team Portsmouth intranet
- Demonstrate a good ability for linking teams across the Naval Base and establish an effective communications network
- Support copywriting and content management for a variety of platforms, publications and programmes - including the production and issue of a weekly newsletter, a Naval Base handbook and an induction programme

- Ability to use effective communications channels to build positive relationships
- Ability to work from a brief and within brand guidelines to create effective communications
- Excellent writing and IT skills
- Ability to write engaging copy for publications, both digital and print

**Education**:

- Degree or Foundation level education (HND, DipHE) within communications or related discipline, or three years work experience in an appropriate role. All sectors and industries considered.

**Experience**:

- Experience of delivering communications in a complex and fast-paced organisation essential
- Defence or public sector knowledge advantageous
- Understanding of effective communications practices and channels essential
- Creative skills in graphic design, photography, videography and editing advantageous
- Working as part of a team to promote good working relationships with a range of partners
