**Peer Support Worker** **Working within the Primary Care Wellbeing and Recovery Service** **Second Step **is a leading mental health charity in the Southwest offering housing, support and hope to people with mental health and other problems. Our goal is to inspire hope and deliver change for everybody and every community we work with. Do you have personal experience of mental health issues? Have you used mental health services? Can you inspire hope for people who are struggling with their mental health? Could you use your personal experience to support others to overcome the blocks and barriers to accessing services? About the role Second Step was one of the first organisations to develop specific ‘peer’ roles for people with lived experience of mental health issues to use that experience to support others. Since 2009 we have developed a range of paid and voluntary peer roles. We have an exciting opportunity to join an innovative project. Using your own lived experience, you will build trusting and supportive relationships with clients, identify, and overcome the barriers they face accessing service, and to help people engage with physical health checks and health related activities in their local community. You will work within the Wellbeing and Recovery Team, supported by Recovery Navigation colleagues and staff within the GP surgeries to connect with and support clients. What we offer You will be supported through a range of one to one and group supervision spaces to stay well, and to support the recovery of our clients. You will also have regular support our Peer Support Team who offer group as well as one to one support.
