Intensive Support Worker Homeless Charity
2 days ago
Searching for a job that might change someone’s life? Perhaps you’re looking for one that might change yours as well?
A Northampton based charity is searching for a new support worker to join their small and dedicated team, supporting people who are homeless and living in a range of halfway settings across Northampton. The role has the potential impact to re route a person’s life opportunities, but the support, and more importantly the person giving it has to be right.
**The role pays between upto £26k and covers 40 hours a week with benefits. You'll work a rolling shift pattern of earlys, mids and lates. (You'll work over night 5 days in a row every third week). There's no weekends required though.**
You'll be supporting customers who are on their journey back to 'mainstream' accommodation in private rented accommodation. However their needs will be very different, depending upon their point in their journey. As an intensive support worker you'll be dealing with some of the most vulnerable customers.
As an intensive support worker, you'll have a small and intimate caseload, probably around six individuals, and support them to access a range of services and provide things like medication and other basic health care.
You’ll need the compassion to work with some of society's most vulnerable people. Some have really complex issues, trauma, drug and alcohol dependance or mental health challenges.
You’ll also need to be incredibly disciplined to set boundaries. You are there to support the clients, not do everything for them. You’ll also need to be really dedicated and reliable
- if you say you’ll do something, you need to do it. You'll also need to be firm and challenge them to make sure they are adhering to rules and expectations.
**Still with me?** There’s no getting away the job isn’t for everyone, but it also potentially the most rewarding and satisfying role available today. You can literally see your time, and your skills change a person’s life.
People who have worked in care, the prison service, mental health or just have a lot of lived experience are encouraged to apply.
