**Job Title**:Intelligence Researcher - Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP)**
**Salary: £28,511 to £30,504 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £28,511 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £30,504 will be via incremental progression.**
**Location**:Across London**
**Your research will make the UK a safer place to be**
**It’s the mission of Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) to keep the nation and everyone in it safe from threats. Those threats are evolving all the time, so it’s crucial that we have the best analysis possible. This is your chance to help us achieve that and make a demonstrable impact on national CT policing policy.**
You will ensure that teams around the country can access meaningful analytical products by providing qualitative and quantitative research support. There are roles across the command, each with a focus on a different threat to the UK. So you could be concentrating your efforts on Firearms and Terrorist use of the Internet; Islamist and Self-Initiated Terrorism; Extreme Right Wing, Left Wing, Anarchist and Single Issue; or Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear, and Protect and Prepare.
There is also a Joint CT Prisons and Probations Hub — a multi-agency venture which focuses on prisons and probation — and the National Community Tensions Team which analyses community tensions and hate crime across the UK.
Wherever you’re based, we’ll look to you to gather and collate information, prepare research packages, populate and manage datasets and conduct both intelligence and open-source research.
You’ll need to bring us good MS Office skills backed by the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You’ll be adept at managing your own time to meet deadlines, confident in engaging with a range of stakeholders — inside and outside policing — and good at communicating with others whether in person or in writing. An understanding of the CT Police network and associated structures would be a real bonus.
In return, you can look forward to benefits including substantial annual leave, Civil Service pension arrangements, interest free season ticket loans, flexible working conditions and more.
**Job Summary**
As an Intelligence Researcher within Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters (CTPHQ) you will be responsible for utilising a range of research techniques to support the analytical function within CTPHQ Analytics and Research. Due to the nature of the role, you will be working across the entire spectrum of terrorist threat to the United Kingdom, including: Islamist, Extreme Right Wing, Left Wing, Anarchist and Single Issue; focusing on a wide variety of terrorist activity - from Prisons to the acquisition of Firearms.
Within CTPHQ there are a number of vacancies across the command, each with a bespoke focus on a different threat to the UK:
**Vetting**
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post.
Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.
**Confidentiality Agreement**
Applicants should also be aware of the need to sign a confidentiality agreement on taking up the post.
**Our Employee Commitments**
