**Job overview**:
To provide Health Care Assistant (HCA) to the Mark Holland Metabolic Unit outpatients service. You will be supported by the nursing team within the unit. The health care assistant will deliver care within the boundaries of their role and in accordance with the specific practice guidelines and protocols. You will be working closely with Metabolic consultants and all members of the MDT, including specialist nurses, dietitians, physiotherapists and admin team, to meet the needs of the patient.

The service will have two healthcare assistants to cover the outpatient clinical needs and between the two roles, will need to support the following consultant led clinics. These are currently:
Monday 12:30-17:30hrs

Tuesday 12:30 - 17:30hrs

Wednesday 08:30 - 17:30hrs

Friday 08:30 - 13:30hrs

**Main duties of the job**:

- To assist the health care practitioner in carrying out routine health related activities within an outpatient/office environment including venipuncture and routine patient observations
- To record patient information within the electronic patient record and department databases
- To provide patient care according to individual needs including clients with learning difficulties, mental health issues or for who English is not their first language.
