Relief Support Worker

Inspire has been supporting adults with learning disabilities in Stonehaven for almost 30 years and today we operate four services within the town.

We currently have vacancies for Relief Support Workers across our services within Stonehaven town.

Inspire has operated the Arduthie service since 1992 and it is currently home to three gentlemen in the main house and one lady in the annex, who range in age. They have a broad range of interests including, arts and crafts, baking and cooking, swimming, taking long walks, going to the gym, carriage driving and looking after their chickens.

Malcolms Mount is currently home to one gentlemen and two ladies who range in age They have a broad range of interests including, arts and crafts, jigsaws, needlework, baking and cooking, watching films, listening to music, taking long walks and socialising with friends, often going into the town for coffee and a cake.

The people who call Carronhall home are two gentlemen and two ladies who range in age. They have a broad range of interests including, socialising with friends, using their Ipad, shopping, listening to music, watching films, cooking, cinema trips and going for walks.

One day you might be helping someone with cooking a meal, cleaning their home or budgeting their money and the next you could be accompanying them to an appointment or activity session or to get their weekly shopping. You may also be required to help with the administration of medication, provide support with eating and drinking at meal times or help to maintain people’s dignity through the provision of quality personal care, depending on individual needs.

Our Inspire By Stonehaven day service currently works from our Charity Shop in the centre of the busy Stonehaven town, supporting 11 people, male and female who live across the local area, with various support packages. The main working hours will be 9am - 5pm Monday - Saturday.

Relief support work within the shop is really varied. One day you might be helping sort out donations, using the till, serving customers and other shop duties, and the next you could be accompanying people to an activity session or helping with the weekly coffee mornings. Each day is different and the daily schedules are routinely discussed so everyone knows what is expected. There is never a quiet moment in the shop.

The people currently supported by Inspire in Stonehaven also have a mixture of communication levels and physical capabilities, which adds further to the variety of the role.

Although our work can be challenging - it is also immensely rewarding as Relief Support Workers play a vital role in developing and maintaining the important life skills and encouraging the participation and integration required for the people we support to flourish and get the best out of life.

Relief Support Workers at Inspire receive £10.50 an hour. There is also a £200 Refer a Friend scheme.
