Hiscox US General Liability is one of the most significant teams within the US General Liability space in Lloyd’s. It boasts the largest team of underwriters and the most integrated support team of pricing actuaries, claims, and wording resources. Hiscox also has the largest portfolio of US General Liability risks in Lloyd’s.

The Opportunity:

- US General Liability
- International General Liability
- UK or Multinational large risk
- Other Casualty experience (such as Medical Malpractice, Product Recall, or Professional Indemnity)
- Facultative Reinsurance background

This role provides an excellent career and knowledge development opportunity. You will be part of a leading team with one of the widest and most innovative appetites in the market. You will be exposed to a wide variety of US risks that make it into London, both on an insurance and reinsurance basis. You will work with and learn from a team of experienced underwriters in a fast-paced environment, interacting with some of the most innovative Fortune 1,000 companies.

About the Team:

- Line Underwriter: Leads the team with extensive expertise in general liability.
- 3 Senior Underwriters: Each with over 15 years of experience in the industry, bringing a wealth of knowledge and insight.
- 3 Underwriters: With experience ranging from 3 to 5 years, these team members are skilled and eager to innovate.
- The team is supported by dedicated pricing actuaries, wording support, and a large claims management team, ensuring comprehensive support and expertise in all areas.

Key Responsibilities:

- Underwrite new and renewal risks within our key segments as listed above and according to the set underwriting appetite. You will start from underwriting simpler risks within a few specific segments and over time progress to underwriting all segments and risks with all levels of complexities
- Attend client meetings
- Develop and maintain close relationships with partner brokers and clients
- Execute on underwriting and sales initiatives to grow the portfolio
- Position yourself and Hiscox as the go-to market for US General Liability in Lloyd’s

What We’re Looking For:

- Experience Underwriting in the US GL market, ideally 3 years experience as a minimum
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable working with clients, industry leaders, and team members
- Strong negotiation skills and a passion for creating new and better ways for Hiscox to succeed
- Self-starter with a high level of achievement
- Decisive nature with good judgment and accountability
- Great organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment
- Degree educated or equivalent

Work Environment:

- Office-based for up to 3 days a week
- Requires US travel 1-4 times per year (length of week or less each time)
