This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the operation of the Document Centre and Mailroom service as part of the wider Estates Service, supporting the London Borough of Barnet.

The main purpose of the role is to supervise a small team of mailroom officers, that sort and distribute (including scanning of the post) incoming and outgoing letters and parcels from the whole London Borough of Barnet estate. The role will be split between working in-house with the mailroom team and driving as a courier during certain days of the week.

This role will be based in Capitol Way, London, NW9 0EQ.

**What will you do?**
- Supervise a small team of mailroom and courier officers
- Ensure vehicles are maintained and serviced as and when required, and if necessary, arrange the hire of replacement vehicles, at certain times of the year.
- Operate the Royal Mail post contract, investigate new developments and services they offer, that could help with the running and efficiency of the department.
- Look at the whole mailroom and courier processes and offer suggestions to the manager on possible improvements and options for efficiency.
- Utilise Omnipost, to log specials, recorded’s and any other deliveries, which require logging and signatures for proof of delivery, via a mobile phone app.
- S et team and individual performance objectives.

**What we’re looking for**:

- Experience in supervising an in-house post room team, and a good understanding of Royal Mail postal services and practices.
- Good IT skills using Microsft packages and other softwares where required.
- Clean Drivers License
- A good knowledge of the Barnet area and principal roads
- Proven ability of working for a busy courier service / mailroom environment. Preferably public sector or similar and can prioritise work quickly and decisively
- A good understanding of the Royal Mail on-line business account (OBA) service
