Summerhall is looking for enthusiastic Bar Supervisors to join our team. Summerhall is an arts and entertainment venue located in the Newington area of Edinburgh, with a large variety of spaces with bars and food outlets, including it’s own on-site pub. It's annual calendar of events is very wide ranging, consisting of gigs, private parties, theatre shows, weddings and cinema screenings, to name a few.

We are looking to add Bar Supervisors to our hospitality team. Hours of work are generally between 11am and 1.30am, though some events will require a 4am finish. The majority of shifts will be from 5pm onwards, and more heavily weighted to Friday and Saturday. Bar Supervisor shifts are split between the various bars, including The Royal Dick pub, Dissection Room, PHD Bar, Library Gallery and the Old Lab. Depending on the location and the event, shifts can be between 4 and 12 hours though they are typically 6 to 8 hours. You would be offered a minimum hours contract of 80 hours per month though up to 120 may be negotiated. This would mean working between 3 and 5 days per week.

**What will you be doing?**:

- Help manage the food and beverage operations across the various bars
- Be able to open the pub/bar without the presence of a manager
- Direct the team working on the bar throughout the shift
- Be the first escalation point for customer issues
- Serve our customers food, coffee, and alcoholic beverages
- Ensure the bars and public areas are kept clean and safe for staff and the public
- Ensure the bars are fully stocked at all times
- Adhere to all health and safety guidance, as directed by Managers
- Digital payment handling and troubleshooting digital payments
- Support the day to day running of the venue, keeping areas clean and tidy, keeping on top of lost property and reporting any activities that may risk the safety of visitors

Cocktail knowledge is not required but advantageous. You need to be comfortable with Supervising a small team and have experience working in a busy volume bar environment, and be willing to learn our range of Barney’s Beer and Pickering’s gin, both produced on site. The pay rate is £12.50 for supervisors, paid monthly, on minimum hour contracts. We offer staff a meal on shifts over 6 hours (dependent on kitchen availability, from a reduced menu), and 50% discount on food and 25% on drink when off shift. Partial uniform is provided. There is a £5 contribution to taxi/Uber trips home after a late shift.
