Starfish Kids Club provides a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children aged 4-11. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and responsible Breakfast Club Playworker to join our team and help deliver high-quality, enjoyable after-school care to children and their families. In this role, you will support the Breakfast Club Coordinator in creating a positive and safe environment where children can relax, play, and participate in various activities before their school day. To provide care and supervision for children aged 4 to 11 years attending the Breakfast Club.
Duties will include:
- To assist with the preparation, serving, and clearing away of breakfast.
- To implement the club's policies and procedures, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all children.
- To be responsible for the well-being, health, and safety of all children in your care.
- To liaise effectively with parents, carers, school staff, and other stakeholders, promoting good communication and relationships.
- To support the delivery of a variety of fun and engaging activities, including free play, arts and crafts, and quiet time.
- To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people, ensuring all staff follow the club’s safeguarding policies.
- To carry out risk assessments in line with current health and safety legislation and promote safe working practices.
- To ensure that equipment and resources are maintained, cleaned, and storedappropriately, reflecting equality and inclusion principles.
- To maintain accurate records, including attendance, accident/incident forms,and other relevant documentation.
- To attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- To assist with identifying any training needs for yourself and others.
- To follow the Starfish Kids Club Code of Conduct at all times.
- To contribute to maintaining the cleanliness, tidiness, and organisation of the club premises.
- To report maintenance or safety issues promptly to the relevant party.
- Any other duties as reasonably required to support the smooth running of the Breakfast Club.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working with children aged 4 to 11, ideally in a school, play, or childcare setting.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and use initiative when needed.
- Awareness of health and safety legislation and risk assessments.
Desirable Requirements:
Relevant qualifications, such as:
- Paediatric First Aid
- Food Hygiene
- Safeguarding training
- Basic understanding of child development and Early Years Framework.
- Experience with food preparation in a childcare setting.
Hours of Work:
- Weekday mornings during term time, working from 7:30 am to 9:00 am, based at St Pauls Primary School.
General Notes:
This job description outlines the main duties and responsibilities of the role. The post holder may be required to undertake other tasks as needed to ensure the efficient operation of the Breakfast Club. Duties may change from time to time without altering the general character of the role or the level of responsibility.

Pay: £12.60 per hour
