SF Recruitment are working with a Manufacturing business in Redditch to recruit a buyer into their growing team.

The role is based on site 5 days per week, with an early finish on Friday, paying £30-35k per annum.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in the development and implementation of purchasing strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, equipment, and services specifically in the manufacturing environment.
- Support the negotiation of contracts and agreements with suppliers and vendors to secure the best possible prices and terms.
- Monitor and analyse market trends and conditions to stay informed of obsolete parts, new products and suppliers that may be beneficial to the company.
- Collaborate with internal departments, including production, technical, design, quality and sales, to understand their requirements and ensure that procurement aligns with overall business objectives.
- Continuously review and evaluate supplier performance to ensure compliance with quality standards and delivery schedules.
- Identify and mitigate potential supply chain risks. i.e. obsolete parts and alternative parts.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications is desirable.
- Purchase goods and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality, delivery and continuity of supply.
- Carry out all relevant administrative tasks related to Purchase Orders such as managing modifications, shortages, expediting and reporting.
- Liaise with vendors and user departments to provide a high degree of visibility and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations.
- Provide analysis on costs, new and existing and suggest cost reduction initiatives.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and updates as and when required.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure favourable prices and terms, and continuously review opportunities for cost savings.
- Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all internal and external relationships.
- Assist in the implementation of strategies to ensure long-term, cost-efficient supply of materials.

Desired Skills and Experience:

- Experience of sourcing and supplier management
- Rail or Marine purchasing experience
- Experience working in an electronics or engineering environment would be beneficial.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes and procedures.
- Able to demonstrate a skill for negotiation and communication.
- Strong relationship building capabilities.
- Adaptable and versatile, able to respond positively when change is required, or plans altered.
- Good eye for detail, completing work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
